"Our Heritage" Campaign
Add your voice to the Heritage Commission's campaign!
Welcome to the NORTHERN HERITAGE Newsletter and thank you for joining our journey of discovery into the heritage of Prince George and Northern BC.
Last week I told you I would update you after the Heritage Commission involvement at CityFest this Wednesday — so here’s the quick update!
Members of the Commission chatted about heritage with over 70 members of the public at our table in the Civic Centre foyer. The place was really lively! and lots of PG citizens had interesting things to say in response to the question posed by our campaign:
What stories, people, or traditions make Prince George feel like Prince George?
There were many new additions to the PG Heritage board, we gave away lots of Heritage Commission bags and books, stickers and heritage coloring sheets and generally took another small but valuable step towards raising awareness about heritage in Prince George.

Go online at Get Involved Prince George and get involved in our movement to identify the heritage with real meaning and value for all the people of PG!
As the website says:
Heritage is more than historic buildings. It lives in the places we gather, the people who shape our community, and the stories we carry with us. The Prince George Heritage Commission is inviting you to share what makes Prince George feel like Prince George, from meaningful locations and local traditions to personal experiences and community moments. Your input will help broaden and modernize how we define heritage, and will directly inform updates to the Heritage Inventory, future programs, and the priorities that guide how we celebrate and preserve our city’s story.

(Many thanks to our friends at City Hall for inviting the Heritage Commission to this City outreach event and for helping make it such as big success for us. Special thanks to Imogene Broberg-Hull for the web site and the hint on where to find the coffee!)
If you found this and my previous newsletters interesting or valuable, I hope you’ll consider buying me a coffee! For now I hope to keep this newsletter free with no paywall so that I can reach as many readers as possible, but even a few dollars now and then can make a big difference - Scan the code and support my writing - and the coffee that keeps me at it!
Respectfully acknowledging that I work, learn, and live on the ancestral lands of the Lheidli T’enneh peoples.
